Judges 11:11-13

¹¹ So Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and commander over them. And Jephthah spoke all his words before Yahweh at Mizpah.

¹² And Jephthah sent messengers to the king of the Ammonites,^[a] saying, “What is between you and me that you have come to me to make war against my land?” ¹³ And the king of the Ammonites^[b] said to Jephthah’s messengers, “Because Israel took my land from the Arnon up to the Jabbok and the Jordan when they came up from Egypt; so then, restore it peacefully.”
